CARAS and Afghanistan – 2
What can we do about the crisis in Afghanistan?
We have heard from many of you asking how to support people who have been caught in the unfolding crisis. CARAS has always been here for the Afghan refugee community and is currently supporting more than 100 people from Afghanistan, many of whom have close family who are trapped and in danger. We expect to welcome many more as they arrive in London in the coming months and years.
Can you start a monthly donation to welcome Afghan refugees?
What we need now more than ever is your financial support to ensure that Afghan refugees have expert support when they get here.
We know how to respond when people arrive with nothing. As people arrive and seek asylum, we are a key part of their adjustment to their new community. According to their needs and wishes we begin with one-to-one problem-solving advice, English classes, social and physical activities, support getting online, destitution relief and help accessing legal or mental health experts. We are also in regular contact with Wandsworth Council and the London Mayor’s office about the acceptance of Afghan refugees from the government. We are encouraging councils to be ambitious and assuring them of the support in our community.
‘I have seen so many charities, organisations, companies and places in the UK and there is no one like CARAS. Your organisation is so special. You really care about human rights and you treat people with kindness and dignity. I want to pass on my sincere gratitude to you and your whole team’.

We will write to you again in the coming weeks as the situation develops. These are vital moments for us to come together to support displaced people. We have the opportunity to stand firm together on the right side of history. If you can, please:
become a monthly supporter of our work.
You can also set up a standing order through your bank (this actually results in us receiving a little more of your donation).
Please contact us for our bank details: fundraising@caras.org.uk
